As you can see in the sentence above, to form a question with a sentence using verb to be in past, we just need to move the verb in front of the sentence and add the question mark (?) at the end and then we have a question. e.g.

  • John was a good musician. 
  • Was John a good musician?

Negative form of Verb To Be

Lesson 3

To form the negative with verb to be we just need to add “not” in front of the verb. e.g.

  • Laura is not a teacher. 
  • The students are not in the classroom. 
  • The dog is not aggressive. 

On next lesson we will learn the negative form of “to be” with apostrophe.
